Catching Up

So I know it has been a long time since I last updated this. I'm sorry for the time lapse, but with 3 young children it is hard to get much of anything accomplished, much less updating the blog. I will however do my very best to keep this more up to date.

In my last entry I had talked about the girls turning 2 and big changes were on the way. Well we have made all of those changes and things seem to be going well. The first change was switching to "big girl beds".
This was a fairly easy switch, although they did not want to stay in bed when you put them there. It seemed the freedom to get in and out of bed on their own was a new fascination. But after a few weeks of continually putting the girls back to bed they figured out it was just easier to stay put. We originally had Jadyn on the top bunk and Jordyn on the bottom bunk as we thought this would work out the best. Apparently they had other plans because with out being told to do so they decided to switch. So now Jordyn was on top and Jadyn was on bottom. Well again this was something that only lasted a short while. As now they have decided that it is more fun to sleep together in one bed. Currently it is on the bottom bunk. I guess we'll see how long this lasts.

The next big change came when we got rid of the high chairs and went to booster seats at the table. This was a very easy change as the girls loved being able to sit in a chair like big brother.

Our last big change came as we started the potty training process. While I have always been told that girls are easier to train than boys, I don't think that is always true. Colton was much easier than his sisters. Maybe it was partly because I was doing 2 at one time. The first 3 weeks were very difficult as it seemed that they were never going to get the hang of it. I spent many hours a day sitting on the bathroom floor singing Itsy Bittsy Spider and playing Patty Cake. Just when it seemed that one had gotten it, the other had not then they would switch. It is amazing how many pairs of panties we could go though in a days time. So as time went on and we continually worked on it, both girls started figuring it out and catching on. And we are now at the point that they wear panties all the time, even when we are away from home, and they are doing really good with it. Still a few accidents here and there, but I think that is to be expected. They really like the idea now of being "big girls" and using the big potty.

Well with all those changes taking place we have been very busy. We also have the Jadyn and Jordyn's bedroom redone so in another entry I will post pictures of it. But for now that is all of their "big changes".

22 Months!!

Wow! It is hard to believe that the girls are 22 months old today!! Where does time go? In just two short months they will be 2 years old and are full of life. It seems just a short time ago we found out that we were going to have twins. Twins!?! Yes to say the least we were shocked, overwhelmed and nervous. Well looking back on things now, I wouldn't know how to do things any different. God knew just what he was doing when he gave us a double blessing of joy, laughter, and love. Now as the girls are on the verge of turning 2 we have lots of new challenges right around the corner. The first of these is moving out of the cribs and in to "big girl" beds. We bought them bunk beds which makes me a little nervous but excited at the same time. The second challenge is potty training. Yes we have all ready introduced the potty seat but nothing has happened yet and we are not forcing it just yet, but will start soon. And the third challenge or maybe not quite a challenge is moving from the high chair at the table to a booster seat. While this will be the easiest of the challenges, it is a turning point to truly being little girls and not babies. They seem to be growing up so fast on me but what an exciting and wonderful time! We are so excited to see what God has planned for them and the rest of the family!! Stay tuned for pictures of Jadyn and Jordyn's new "big girl" bedroom.

Sisterly Love

Jadyn and Jordyn have lots of love for each other or maybe it's just because they are use to sharing space.
Anyway they seem to like to lay on each other and neither one minds when the other is laying on her (most of the time). They are just too funny when they do this.

Kids Will Say the Darndest Things

Oh some of the things our children say! Today as I was changing Jadyn and getting the girls ready to go pick up big brother Colton from Preschool, Jordyn was wandering around talking and so I stopped to listen to what she was saying. It was not hard to understand her as she seemed to be talking pretty clear. And what I heard was very cute and funny! I got quite a laugh out of it. Listen to the video and see if you can understand her.

Just in case you couldn't understand her, she is saying "shake your bottom". She was saying this the rest of the afternoon and all night. Not sure where she picked this up at but it is funny. (Sorry for the noisey TV)

Happy Halloween!

Hope it was as happy for you as it was for us. The kids loved being in their costumes and going trick or treating. Colton was a rodeo clown which was so fitting for him and the girls were bumble bees again this year. They were little enough last year that I just decided to dress them in the same thing again this year. We took the kids to Alma to go trick or treating and did lots of walking. Every house we went to thought that our three kids were just the cutest. And well I have to agree! Every one had to ask if the girls were really twins and how old they were. They did so good for this being their first real trick or treating experience. We told Colton that after some one gave him candy that he needed to say "thank you" so before long Jordyn picked up on it and started saying "thank you, bye-bye". It was so cute to listen to her say it. Jadyn wouldn't say anything, just take the candy and she was on her way. We then headed out to my partent's house in Upland so that they could get some treats from grandma and papa (and some supper too). By the end of the night we had 3 exahusted children! We all had fun and ended up with way too much candy!!

Colton's First day of Preschool

Tuesday was Colton's first day of preschool. It all seemed ok until we got to school. Once we were inside Colton did not want to talk to his teacher, he tried to hide behind mom and run away. This made it even harder on mom. I was alreday having a hard time with the fact that my little boy is growing up and starting school. Then he acts like he doesn't want to be there. The first few minutes were difficult on us both. But it did not take long before he was talking to the teacher and was ok with me leaving. So with chocked back tears I left and went back home. When I picked him up his teacher said he did great and he said he had fun. He told me "I didn't make a buddy today" in which I reasured him that it takes time and maybe Thursday he could try again. Then while driving home he tells me "I didn't get a girlfriend". After a moment of laughter, I told him that he didn't need one of those for a really long time. So over all his first day went well and he told me he is ready to go back Thursday. If he keeps this attitude we will have a great school year!
I took pictures of him before we left the house then a couple of him at preschool.

Lake Time

We have now lived in Nebraska for 8 months and we really like it up here. We have found many different things to do in our spare time as a family and one of those things is going to the Harlan County Lake. We only live about 30 minutes from where we like to go swim and play in the water. It makes it very nice to just take an afternoon and go hang out and have some good quality family fun. We don't have a boat, but just playing in the water is fun for the kids. Here is our latest trip and Colton's first time to wear a life jacket.
